Self Contained Navigation System (SCNS) Desktop Trainer
ARINC’s C-130 flight simulator is designed to give pilots a highly realistic training experience on a single desktop computer. To ensure its currency and accuracy during training, the SCNS uses the actual aircraft Operational Flight Program (OFP) to help trainees prepare for challenging navigational situations and develop procedures to handle them if they are encountered in flight.
SCNS is configured for optimal user flexibility with these key features:
- Select the desired C-130 Mission Design Series (MDS)
- Choose initial aircraft location and conditions anywhere in the world
- Training can begin at any phase of the simulated mission by entering appropriate airspeed, altitude and heading information
- Freeze options allow users to stop SCNS operation while mission continues or to stop entire simulation for discussion and evaluation
- Choose which SCNS Integrated Control Display Units (IDCU) are displayed
- Upload IRU format flight plans
- A Ground Truth window controls aircraft flight and values can be adjusted to reflect aircraft attitude or SCNS flight plans
- The Breaker Panel window allows various aircraft systems or SCNS components to be disabled
- Extensive help files provide information on each SCNS IDCU screen
- Customizable and expandable using virtual instrument renderings of other aircraft systems
- Integration with Falconview provides moving map function
